Our Story: An Ecuadorian Cacao Legacy
🤎 Where Heart Meets Cacao
Flor de Cacao was born from a deep calling to do business differently.
In the world of global commodity trading — often fast, competitive, and ego-driven — I envisioned a softer, more nurturing way to connect people through cacao.
✨ The Inspiration
I grew up surrounded by the richness of Ecuador, where cacao is more than a crop — it is a symbol of heritage, community, and life. Over the years, I witnessed how the traditional trading world often overlooked the human stories and sacred energy behind every cacao bean.
I felt called to bring a feminine energy to this space:
- To honor the farmers and their legacy.
- To respect the land and its rhythms.
- To create relationships with buyers that are personal, reliable, and heart-centered.
🌍 Our Purpose
Flor de Cacao exists to redefine how cacao trade is done:
- With care instead of competition.
- With connection instead of cold transactions.
- With integrity, that embraces both people and the planet.
Every cacao bean we deliver carries a story of heritage and a vibration of care — from the Ecuadorian soil to the hands of passionate chocolate makers around the world.

My Story
I grew up in Quevedo, Ecuador, a town known for its fertile lands and vibrant agricultural life. Cocoa has always been part of my story—almost as if it runs through my veins.
Cocoa is in our family’s DNA. My grandfather, once known as one of Ecuador’s notable cocoa exporters. With nothing more than a primary school education and a passion for his work, he built strong relationships with local farming communities and managed to export cocoa beans abroad without intermediaries—a remarkable feat in an era long before the internet.
Like most men in Quevedo back then, my father started as a farmer, because agriculture was the way of life. Later, inspired by my grandfather’s entrepreneurial spirit, he became an agricultural intermediary, trading the harvests of local farmers. I grew up surrounded by piles of cocoa, soy, and maize beans, watching the rhythm of the harvest seasons shape our lives.
When my grandfather retired, my uncles and cousins carried on the family tradition as cocoa traders, keeping our legacy alive. About 16 years ago, I took my own step into the cocoa world by starting an artisan bean-to-bar chocolate business called Flor de Cacao. My mission then was to show the world that Ecuador is not only a producer of exceptional cocoa beans but also of extraordinary chocolate.
Even though I closed the chocolate business when I moved to the UK, my passion for cocoa never faded—it simply shifted perspective. Today, Flor de Cacao lives on, but with a renewed mission: to connect Ecuadorian cocoa businesses with international clients, creating opportunities for local farmers and showcasing the excellence of our beans to the world.
Through Flor de Cacao, I honor my family’s legacy and share my lifelong passion for cocoa—this time, as a bridge between Ecuador and the global market.
